Captain Ethan Hougie’s passion for fishing began at a young age, thanks to the influence of his grandfather, who taught him the art of fishing in the kelp beds off the coast of San Diego. Growing up with a rod in hand, Ethan quickly developed a deep love for the ocean and a natural understanding of its behaviors.

In 2016, at the age of 17, Ethan turned his passion into a profession by starting to work on local fishing boats ranging from one to five day trips. His dedication and skill quickly stood out, and by the time he was 20, he had earned his Captain’s License. Since then, Ethan has had the privilege of working alongside some of the best fishermen in San Diego, learning from their expertise and refining his own craft.

While he has worked on larger vessels with 15 to 30 passengers, Ethan has discovered that he thrives with smaller, more intimate groups. With fewer people onboard, he can offer a higher level of personalized attention, ensuring every guest has an unforgettable experience on the water. Whether it’s guiding beginners or sharing tips with seasoned anglers, Captain Ethan’s knowledge, patience, and approachable demeanor make everyone feel like family.

When he's not on a charter you can find Captain Ethan fishing for swordfish, exploring new areas to fish or when the snow comes to the mountains you will find him in mammoth skiing.
